CITIZEN ACADEMY CLASS TO BEGIN IN JUNE
The San Gabriel Police Department will be hosting its inaugural Citizen Academy class beginning on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017. The Police Department plans to host at least two 11-week Citizen Academy sessions every year. Chinese and Spanish language Citizen Academies are also being developed.
The Citizen Academy is designed to give citizens who live, work, or attend school in the City of San Gabriel an overview of law enforcement today, while simultaneously giving attendees the opportunity to meet the men and women in uniform who serve their community. This exciting and informative eleven-week course includes an introduction to the various Police Department divisions, community programs, and the criminal justice system. Citizens can also expect to participate in hands-on activities that offer an authentic law enforcement experience, including police tactics and firearms safety.
Applications are now available and must be submitted on or before April 24th, 2017. Apply early, as space is limited, and admission will be based on a first come, first served basis for qualified applicants. Qualified applicants who are not admitted into this session will be waitlisted for the following session. Informational brochures and applications can be picked up at the San Gabriel Police Department. For further information contact:
