RETURN TO
CITY SERVICES

(UPDATED 9/28/11)

The Neighborhood Improvement Services Division is dedicated to proactively identifying conditions that threaten the health and welfare of the citizens of San Gabriel and to developing long term strategies that recognize our rich history, resolve contemporary community problems, and promote community pride and stability.   In order to enhance and sustain the highest quality of life standard, we will provide exceptional customer service and rapid and effective responses.

The Neighborhood Improvement Services Division (NIS) is committed to being a respected division within the City of San Gabriel, an ally to the community, and a model program for local agencies.

The San Gabriel City Council has adopted City Codes (laws) specifically designed to address blight, nuisances, and to maintain a clean environment for all citizens in our community. The City of San Gabriel does this by working in partnership with the people of San Gabriel.

The NIS Division strives to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment. We help maintain and improve the quality of our community by administering a fair and unbiased enforcement program to correct violations of municipal codes and land use requirements. We also work with residents, neighborhood associations, public services agencies and other City departments to:

  • Facilitate voluntary compliance with City laws and codes.
  • Empower community self-help programs.
  • Develop public outreach programs.
  • Establish community priorities for enforcement programs
