The mission of the San Gabriel Parks and Recreation Department is to maintain, stimulate and enhance the quality of life in our community through the development and maintenance of the public spaces that make up our parks and open spaces. We also enhance our community by providing a variety of innovative community events, leisure time activities, and services to meet existing and emerging needs for all of the citizens of our community.

Our goal is to foster a sense of community by promoting civic involvement. The Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community by providing positive opportunities for people of all ages. This goal will be achieved by encouraging citizen involvement, by developing cultural harmony and our goal will be supported by a commitment to building and maintaining community partnerships.

The Department is constantly revising the activities and services we offer to keep up with trends and current events. To do this, we are continuously developing new programming that will enhance the traditional activities that our residents have supported and continue to request.

The Recreation Guide (PDF format) is published and distributed to every City residence and business four times each year.
