Welcome to the San Gabriel Community Services Department

Kids Day & 4th of July Parade
Join the City of San Gabriel as we celebrate our country's independence. The parade will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Plaza Park, 428 South Mission Drive, in front of the San Gabriel Mission and continue North through the Mission District, continue East on Broadway and conclude at Smith Park, 232 West Broadway.
Registration is free, but you must register in order to be in the parade. Kids are welcome to ride their decorated tricycle, bike or scooter, or walk in the parade (prizes for best decorated).

Activities at Smith Park will include a watermelon eating contest, barbeque, games, entertainment and refreshments. Youth centered community groups will also host activities in the park. For more information call San Gabriel Community Services Department at (626) 308-2875.

Community Services Strategic Plan
The Community Services Department recently embarked on a first-ever strategic planning process designed to guide the department's efforts through 2020.  The plan is entitled "Playing Our Strengths: A Five-Year Strategic Plan for the Community Services Department."

Summer Day Camp 2015

Day Camp at Washington School features a variety of fun summer activities for youth. Don't miss the weekly excursion to a location that matches the theme for the week. Day Camp is staffed with a Director, and six Recreation Leaders.

Camp is limited and fills up quickly, so be sure to register early.

Roosevelt Bear Summer Recreation Program
The Community Services Department is offering a free drop-in program at Roosevelt Elementary School which will begin on Monday, June 8. This summer program is filled with games, arts & crafts, tournaments, and special events all supervised by our experienced recreation leaders and staff. The program is offered to those children who are attending summer school and the children in the community. Every participant must fill out a permission slip before participating.

Jefferson "Bulldog" Sport Camp
San Gabriel Community Services Department is offering an exciting program at Jefferson Middle School. The Bulldog Sport Camp gives students the opportunity to stay involved with athletics during the summer.

This free camp will reinforce fundamental basketball and volleyball skills. This program is geared for youth participants 9-12 years of age. The camp will be located at Jefferson Middle School in the Gym. Every participant must fill out a permission slip before participating.
