GRANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

2021 PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT

CONTRACT NO. 21-04

The City of San Gabriel recently completed its annual street improvement project, “2021 Pavement Rehabilitation Project”, as a part of an ongoing effort to improve the condition of local roadways.  The City selected 10.5 road miles of streets in desperate need of repair, with a pavement condition index (PCI) below 20 out of 100.

The selected restoration process was to install 4” of new asphalt rubber hot mix (ARHM).  This project received a $250,000 grant from CalRecycle, as part of their Rubberized Pavement Grant Program for FY 2020-21.  With their financial assistance, a total of 96,434 California-generated waste tires were ground up and recycled into the asphalt to improve the roadway quality rather than being sent to landfills.  Attached is the project map.
