The Asian Youth Center benefits from many hours donated by volunteers and the Board of Directors. These hours represent a saving in operating costs, which means more money goes directly to the Center's youth programs. Volunteers include interns from the Cal State University system, student volunteers from local schools, seniors who assist in the office and in the classroom, and many individuals who volunteer time and expertise and resources.

The purpose of La Casa is to encourage and support individuals and families in need. By providing direct human services, advocacy and referrals, La Casa seeks to enhance the educational and economic well-being of the people it serves. Bilingual / multicultural preschool, English as a second language classes, assistance with citizenship, parenting, leadership training, and social service information are just some of what is offered. The San Gabriel Educational Foundation (SEF), the primary fundraising partner of the San Gabriel Unified School District, raises funds from throughout the San Gabriel community – parents, businesses, community members – to support educational programs at all of San Gabriel USD’s eight schools and that benefit all K-12 students. SEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has donated more than $670,000 to our schools since 1986 to provide funding for student programs and curriculum that are in danger of being reduced or eliminated. SEF’s volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of school parents, community and business leaders who are dedicated to enhancing and improving public education for San Gabriel’s youth.

Open to young men and women between the ages of 14 through 21 years of age, the Explorer Program encourages sound morals, desirable ethical conduct, and positive citizenship qualities. Explorers get professional training through various police-related duties within the department; actively participate within the community on patrol ride-alongs. Funding relies solely on fundraisers and private donations to pay for post expenses. Every donation, large and small, can help the San Gabriel Explorer Program close the gap with expenses for equipment, national, and local educational explorer competition activities, leadership training, and athletic competitions.
