Thirty new state-of-the-art traffic signal cabinets are being installed by city staff at major intersections in the City of San Gabriel.
Funded through Measure R by Metro, the new cabinets offer the latest technology features including remote programing and traffic monitoring. The cabinets are also equipped with battery backup, so that in case of power failure, traffic signals will continue to operate as programmed or enter flash mode to help maintain a safe driving environment.
This project will be followed up by a fiber optic installation project, that will connect and synchronize traffic signals to provide better traffic flow throughout the city, as well as synchronization with neighboring cities.
The installation project has already begun and will continue over the next three months.
