We are deeply saddened by this week’s senseless acts of violence in Uvalde, Texas, and across the country. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all affected by these tragedies.
While there is no current threat to our local schools, the San Gabriel Police Department has stepped up patrols in and around our schools beginning today through the remainder of the school year, as an added measure of safety and security. SGPD’s School and Community Engagement Team as well as the Patrol and specialized assignment units will be focused on providing a highly visible police presence for our schools representing the San Gabriel Unified School District and Garvey School District.
We would also like to remind you to stay vigilant and, if you notice suspicious activity, say something. As always, the San Gabriel Police Department can be reached at (626) 308-2828, or you can report a tip anonymously at (800) 222-TIPS. For emergencies, call 911.
We stand with victims of violence.
