On Independence Day, bright stars and broad stripes will be marching through the Mission District starting at 9 a.m.
The annual 4th of July parade will begin at Plaza Park, 428 S Mission Drive, proceed along Mission Drive and W Broadway, and end at Smith Park at 9:30 a.m. The most patriotically-dressed parade participants will receive an abundance of prizes. After the parade, residents and families can enjoy the rest of their morning at Kids’ Day at Smith Park. The kid-friendly event will be filled with tons of fun activities, including:
Live magic show by Arty Loon
Live storytelling by Ina Buckner Barnette, the Sunshine Storyteller
Free swim from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (swim suit mandatory)
Attendees are welcome to bring their own food (Coffee a Go-Go food truck will be available to purchase food/drinks from)
Kids’ games
Community Booths such as United Mental Health Promoters Program, Foothill Family, Asian Youth Center, San Gabriel Veterans Memorial Coalition, Inc., and the San Gabriel Sea Gulls
Road Closure
Please note, Mission Drive between Mission Road and W Broadway, and W Broadway from Mission Drive to S San Marino Ave will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4 to accommodate the 4th of July parade.
