San Gabriel Fire Department is hosting a 9/11 Remembrance & Tribute Ceremony to commemorate and honor the sacrifices of first responders and victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001 at Fire Station 51, located at 1303 S Del Mar Ave, San Gabriel.
Three hundred and forty-three mini flags with names of firefighters who perished in 9/11 and their respective rigs will be placed on the front lawn of fire station 51.
Beginning at 6:40 a.m., the ceremony is open to the public and will include a flag ceremony, moment of silence, and bell ringing. Beverages and pastries will be provided afterward.
Timeline of Ceremony:
6:40 a.m. - San Gabriel firefighters and police officers begin the ceremony
6:50 a.m. - Firefighters will raise and lower the flag to half-staff
6:59 a.m. - A tribute will be announced over the radio by Verdugo Fire Communications. A moment of silence will be observed at San Gabriel Fire Station along with the other 43 fire stations in the region.
7:02 a.m. - Ringing of final bells
8:30 a.m. - Ceremony ends
