The City of San Gabriel, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, is sponsoring "Older American Recognition Day". The Community Services Department is soliciting public input to find this year's Outstanding Older American. They are seeking adults aged 65 and above whose active involvement and volunteer service have greatly enhanced the quality of community life. The purpose of the program is to encourage community leaders to remain active in mainstream community life.
To be nominated, you must:
- Be an older adult, age 65 or older
- Not have been honored at the event in previous years;
- Have performed outstanding volunteer service for the San Gabriel community.
The winner of the 2023 Outstanding Older American Award will be the Grand Marshal at San Gabriel's July 4th parade. Nominations for the Outstanding Older American Award are being accepted through Tuesday, February 28. Nomination forms are available on the city website and at the Community Services Department (250 S Mission Drive).
