Celebrate the 4th of July in San Gabriel with a parade and a free Kids’ Day event at Smith Park on Tuesday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members will travel throughout the Mission District from Plaza Park (428 S Mission Drive) to Smith Park (232 W Broadway Ave) from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. This year’s Outstanding Older American Award winner will serve as the Grand Marshal for the parade. Those dressed in the most patriotic costumes can also win prizes.
Following the half-hour parade will be a morning filled with a roster of family-fun activities including:
- Watermelon eating contest
- Bubble show
- Free swim from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (swimsuit mandatory)
- Food trucks (Attendees are welcome to bring their own food)
- Kids’ games
- Community booths
In addition, the Kids’ Day event will include an “Honor Wall” display to commemorate current and past military members from San Gabriel.
Road Closure
Please note, Mission Drive between Mission Road and W Broadway, and W Broadway from Mission Drive to S San Marino Ave will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4 to accommodate the 4th of July parade.
