Join us for a spectacular free two-day celebration of the Year of the Dragon at our Lunar Lantern Festival on Saturday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, February 18 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the historic Mission District.
Presented in partnership with KAZN, KMRB, and Sino TV, San Gabriel's Lunar Lantern Festival offers a wide variety of entertainment, traditional activities and delightful cuisines open for all ages. Inspired by the renowned Lantern Festival of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other Asian countries, San Gabriel’s Mission District will be adorned with lavish and intricate lanterns, symbolizing a fresh start to the new year. The festival will not only mark the first full moon of the lunar year but will also serve as the grand finale to Lunar New Year festivities for families and friends to gather and celebrate the beginning of spring.
Kicking off with a traditional lion and dragon dance, the festival will be filled with captivating music and dance performances from various community groups. Friends and families can immerse themselves in the enchanting lantern displays, featuring a lantern house adorned with giant inflatable lanterns shaped like Chinese zodiac animals.
Kids can receive free lanterns while supplies last, and enjoy a variety of engaging activities, including carnival rides and games, a petting zoo, bounce houses, chalk art and pony rides.
Food enthusiasts can indulge in Asian delicacies like crepes, roasted chestnuts, popcorn chicken, noodles, barbecued meats, seafood skewers and desserts, all available for purchase from the hundreds of culinary and artisan market vendors.
Parking will be available at the following locations:
