On Tuesday, the City Council approved the 2016-2017 Budget and Capital Improvement Program, finalizing funding decisions for the upcoming fiscal year.
The $56 million budget is balanced, with a total operating budget of $48.4 million and $8 million set aside for infrastructure updates and other special projects. The budget maintains a healthy reserve, in case of a need for emergency spending.
Some priority initiatives in the Budget & CIP include street and sewer repairs, technology improvements, site preparation for a new police station and additional funding for economic development efforts.
