In 2009, the San Gabriel City Council saw a need to improve communication with residents, and out of that desire the Council Weekly newsletter was born. Over the years, the newsletter has evolved and improved to provide community members, city employees and businesses with the latest city news and information in the most effective format.
This week will be the final issue of the Council Weekly. Starting next week, the evolution of this publication will continue with a brand new, easier-to-read digital format and a new name.
With its first issue on July 6, the new San Gabriel City Beat will put the latest city news right in subscribers’ email inbox. It will be compatible with mobile devices and have a simple, clean design. It will still have the same great news content; those who are already signed up to receive the Council Weekly newsletter will not have to re-register to get City Beat.
The start of City Beat coincides with the launch of the newly redesigned city website. Still at www.sangabrielcity.com, the new site will be much easier to navigate, be compatible with any device and have a fresh, clean design. The new City News Center will integrate seamlessly with City Beat, giving the city’s publications a newsier feel. The new website launches this Friday, July 1.
Signing up for city news is now easier than ever. To subscribe to the new City Beat, just visit www.sangabrielcity.com/CityBeat (after the new website launches on July 1) or text CITYBEAT to 22828. The city encourages current subscribers to share the good news with their family and friends who want to stay in the loop about everything San Gabriel.
