Heavy construction work has begun on the Del Mar Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project and will last through the end of July.
The work will impact traffic on Del Mar Avenue between Mission Road and Chestnut Avenue. One lane will still be open in each direction, however traffic will be shifted to avoid road work. Left turns onto side streets will be extremely limited. Construction work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The city encourages drivers to use alternate routes.
The city broke ground on the project earlier this year. The project will include pavement reconstruction of 0.5 miles of Del Mar Avenue from Mission Road to Chestnut Avenue and is scheduled for completion by fall 2016.
Del Mar Avenue is one of the city’s busiest arterials and has some of the most deteriorated pavement in the city. This is the first of three phases of construction to resurface 1.5 Miles of Del Mar Avenue from Mission Road to the 10 Freeway.
