San Gabriel police officers will have a pop of pink on their uniforms this October, as the department joins other Los Angeles County agencies in the fight against breast cancer with the Pink Patch Project.
Officers will wear a pink patch in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, and the department is starting fundraising efforts now. SGPD will sell pink patches to the public for just $10 to raise funds for cancer research and support. All money raised will go to the City of Hope.
This is the first year that San Gabriel will participate in the county-wide Pink Patch Project, which started in Irwindale last year. Sgt. Christine Nolasco said the department decided to participate because many officers and SGPD families have been affected by breast cancer.
To purchase a patch, contact Sgt. Christine Nolasco at 626.308.2843 or cn070@sgpd.com or Lt. Alex Quijada at 626.308.2844 or aq043@sgpd.com.
