The City Council approved the 2016-2017 Budget and Capital Improvement Program in July, and now residents can easily learn all about their decisions with new user-friendly materials released this month.
The artfully designed and easy-to-read budget book is now available online as well as in hard copy at City Hall and the San Gabriel Library. The book details spending for each department, as well as capital projects for the year, in an accessible format.
For those who might want a quicker read, the Finance Department released a "budget in brief" brochure that provides a summary of the City Council's financial decisions for the year. The brochure also has tables and charts that help the reader clearly understand the city budget.
With these tools, the city aims to increase transparency and accessibility of the city budget, which is one of the most important documents the City Council generates each year.
