At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the City Council approved a $3.4 million contract with Morillo Construction, Inc. for construction of Marshall Park.
The 2.24 acre park will be built on the old Marshall Elementary School site, which has been closed for several years. It will be the first park south of Valley Boulevard, bringing a neighborhood park to an area lacking in open space. It is a project that the community has supported for years.
The Marshall Park project is funded by $4.6 million a grant the city received in 2010 through the Proposition 84 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.
Marshall Park is scheduled to be complete by summer 2017.
