[ARCHIVED] Food, drinks, crafts vendors and shopping at Lunar New Year Fest Jan. 28

Twenty food and dessert booths, 11 crafts vendors and 12 merchant booths will fill the historic Mission District on Saturday, Jan. 28, providing attendees with a day filled with eating, shopping and fun at the 3rd Annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival.

Festival-goers can chow down on everything from sushi tacos to potato swirls to dumplings and more at the Street Food Fair. Confirmed food vendors include Rice Balls of Fire, Steamy Bun Truck, Seoul Street, Waffleland, Kai Kai Dumplings, Boba Bear, Norigami, T4U Cafe, Gaja (GreenEgg Co), Lao Tao, AFC Soy Foods, MIISTER POTATO, Jinbao Chestnut, ACA Grill and Swirls Potato.  New this year will be Dessert Land, featuring delicious dessert vendors Waffling Around, Sharetea and Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream.

In addition to the food options, there will be a craft beer and wine garden offering selections from Lagunitas Brewing, Coronado Brewing, Singha Beer and Choya Plum Wine. 

The new Crafts Village will be a fun area to browse a selection of handmade products, including paintings, candles, soap and more. Vendors include The Healing Gem, Winklebeans, Carissa Weber Art, Cute Tea Egg, Earth + Element, Art of Leanne Huynh, Kieutie Pie, Sakuradragon, Bleenkies, J Because I Love You and Rx Candles. In addition to the crafts vendors, there will be an area for merchant booths selling various items including novelty gifts, cosmetics and jewelry.

Finally, the festival will include hours of live entertainment, featuring both traditional and modern acts, on the outdoor stage and inside the Mission Playhouse, as well as a chalk art contest, dance crew competition, kids' zone and more. 

The San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival will go from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 in the historic Mission District (Mission Drive between Mission Road and Broadway). Admission to the festival is free. For the event, Mission Drive (between Mission Road and Broadway) and Santa Anita Street (from Broadway to McGroarty) will be closed from 10 p.m. on Jan. 27 until 8 a.m. on Jan. 29.
