Next week, community members will have a unique opportunity to share their input on the future of the city's parks and recreation programs at several public meetings.
These meetings are part of the process to develop the city's first Parks and Open Space Master Plan, which began last year. With a limited amount of parks and open space in the city, this comprehensive plan will help find the best way to expand and improve current parks and open space, maximize recreation programs to meet residents’ needs and desires. The plan will help prioritize these projects and help the city develop new funding sources to complete them. With only opportunities ahead, the city is asking community stakeholders to “Dream Your Park.”
Community input is extremely important for the planning process and residents and other park users will have many opportunities to give direction and share their dreams for the city’s parks and recreation programs and facilities. The city will make a strong effort to engage all community members, in multiple languages, during this process to get a true sense of the city’s parks, recreation and open space needs.
The city will hold six focus group meetings on:
- Mon., Feb. 6 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Coolidge Elementary, 421 N Mission Drive
- Tues., Feb. 7 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the CHEC Building, 261 S Junipero Serra Drive
