For the first time ever, the city's Finance Department received a California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) Budget Award.

The award recognizes the city for outstanding work on the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget. In awarding this recognition, CSMFO evaluators look at a city’s budget for transparency, clarity and accessibility. In order to receive the award, the city’s budget had to meet the high standards put forth by CSMFO for the accounting work, and also had to make the document easy to understand for the average resident.

CSMFO is the state organization for municipal finance professionals. The organization promotes “excellence in financial management through innovation, continuing education and the professional development of our members.”
