[ARCHIVED] Infrastructure rehab, reinvestment take center stage with new projects

Fairview Ave and Mission Road 2

New Street Trees: Fairview Avenue & Mission Road

Public Works Park Maintenance crews completed tree planting and drought-tolerant landscape beautification along Fairview Avenue (above) in the San Gabriel Village business district surrounded by Circle Drive. Mission Road tree planting is being planned for installation in the fall, following the paving projects and after summer temperatures have cooled.

Marshall Community Park
Construction was delayed by about one month due to the heavy rains this winter, but the soils have dried and work is now progressing normally. Utility lines are being installed, including the underground storm drainage infiltration system.

More than Ever, San Gabriel is Paving the Way to Great Streets
More miles of streets will be repaved in the coming year than have ever been paved at one time in recent history and possibly in the City's history. We will use communication tools and best construction practices to minimize inconvenience, but there will certainly be some impacts while these streets are rebuilt.  Thank you for your patience!
The 2016 Great Streets Pavement Project consisted of reconstructing pavement on Bradbury north of Las Tunas, Charlotte south of Grand Avenue, as well as preventive maintenance (slurry sealing) of Del Mar Avenue north of Las Tunas and the City Hall and Community Services parking lots. Work began in January, and the project will be completed soon.
Del Mar Avenue Phase 2 (Bencamp Street to Chestnut Avenue)
Designs are underway for this project which involves the repaving of this segment of Del Mar Avenue and replacement/upgrade of the sanitary sewers on Del Mar Avenue. The design will be complete by the end of the year and construction will start in early 2018.
Del Mar Avenue Rehabilitation Project Phase 3 (Saxon Avenue to Norwood Place)
Construction is scheduled for May/June 2017. The project involves reconstructing the existing pavement, installing new curb ramps, and restriping of the roadway to include bike lanes.
Broadway/Walnut Grove Intersection Improvements
Design of this federally-funded project is complete. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018 and will be coordinated with the school calendar to minimize impacts.
ACE Update: Haul Route Restoration
The restoration of pavement and associated work on more than 3.5 miles of City streets, including Mission Road and San Gabriel Blvd, is underway. Replacement of curb ramps along all of these streets is nearly complete. Pavement repairs will begin on Agostino in early April.
