The City of San Gabriel, located about 10 miles northeast of Los Angeles, is known as the “Birthplace of the Los Angeles Region” and boasts a powerful and far-reaching history in California. The City of San Gabriel currently produces two publications, Grapevine Guide and Grapevine Newsletter, that are released four times a year for a total of eight publications a year. At the November 15, 2022 City Council meeting, Council approved the discontinuation of the two publications and the development of a new citywide magazine, “Discover San Gabriel”, to be released on a quarterly basis. This is a unique opportunity for the selected vendor to work with City staff to develop a modern and engaging magazine. The goal of the magazine is to highlight upcoming City news, events, and programs to engage residents and tourists. The new 32-page magazine will be published and distributed four times a year (March, June, September, and December) to the households in San Gabriel and adjacent unincorporated neighborhoods. At this time, staff anticipates that the magazine will be printed and mailed, however the City will be surveying residents to ask about access to digital resources to determine if an all-digital publication is a possibility. The magazine will be mailed out as a standalone publication, and available for digital view at sangabrielcity.com.
